We have obstacles in our path.
There is no getting away from the struggles and strife that this world throws at us.
Too often we see how big they are and no way to overcome. We know how small and weak we are and have no way of even dreaming of defeating the challenges that we face.
Joshua faced the same when he looked at Jericho.
Jericho’s walls are too tall to climb.
Jericho’s walls are too thick to break through.
Jericho’s walls are too strong to knock down.
Jericho’s walls are impenetrable.
There is no weakness.
There is no way we can win.
Jericho cannot be defeated.
God promised a victory even though Joshua and his army could not see any possible way to defeat Jericho.
God asked his people to do something that seemed a little odd. Not ordinary for an army.
Just march around the city.
Don’t try to break through. Don’t attack. Just march around the city silently.
Joshua led the army as God commanded.
They did the work God asked them to do.
They did the work God needed them to do.
They did not concern themselves with the outcome. They just did the work.
God took care of the outcome.
God collapsed the walls of Jericho.
The walls that were too tall to climb.
The walls that were too thick to break through.
The walls that were too strong to knock down.
The walls that were impenetrable and without weakness.
The walls that from human eyes on the outside could not be defeated.
God brought them down because his people did the work.
Small things can do great things.
Just do the work and allow God to manage and take care of the outcome!
